The four layers
2. Anonymise
Deterministic salted SHA-256 hashing of identifiers, tokenisation of recoverable fields (SA ID, IBAN), generalisation of quasi-identifiers. K-anonymity ≥ 5 enforced by dbt tests.
3. Enrich
Geographic context via GeoGlobal (city, country, POI category), temporal context (holidays, paydays), FX conversion, user-lifecycle segment, cross-app sessions.
4. Serve
Marts queryable from Apache Superset, or pushed back to your app's database as anonymised per-user summaries so apps can render their own analytics locally.
Built compliance-first
POPIA
All eight conditions mapped to specific pipeline controls. 72-hour breach notification process. Right-to-be-forgotten propagates within 30 days end-to-end.
GDPR
Articles 5, 6, 15–22, 25, 30, 32–35 mapped. DPIA template ready for reviewer sign-off. Pseudonymisation by design.
FICA
Five-year retention for financial transaction records handled via the compliance token vault — readable by audit on request, never by analysts.
CCPA
Right-to-know, right-to-delete, right-to-correct, non-discrimination — all wired through the same flows POPIA mandates.
Why we're being careful with onboarding
BI Pipeline customers send us their production data. We want to take that seriously. Right now we're onboarding one customer at a time, doing a real Data Protection Impact Assessment per engagement, and making sure the anonymisation layer is signed off by a named compliance reviewer before any data flows.
